Landscaping to Investing with CRS

Jeffery Brooks started using CRS a little over a decade ago, when his primary business was landscaping and a little construction. He used CRS to target market his landscaping services. “I’d used direct mail before CRS, but the reason I liked CRS labels better is that I could target areas better. If I had 10 customers on one street, I could target the other 40 on that street. With other bulk mail services, you’d have to send out 5,000 pieces at a time, but with CRS, I could send out just 50 if I wanted to. It was much better for me. I haven’t done bulk mail since,” he said.

He had a few investment properties at the time as well. Today he owns well over 50 investment properties, and one commercial building, with a total value of over $3 million. He gives CRS and his sales rep, Glenn Zinder much of the credit for his growth. “Everything he has brought me has been good. It was valuable to me back then, and it’s valuable to me now. He’s always easy to get in touch with and very patient, because I didn’t know a thing about it at first,” he said.

Now head of Jeffrey Brooks Construction and Real Estate, LLC, he admits the roles of construction and real estate have somewhat reversed in proportion. The emphasis is definitely on real estate, although he still does a little landscaping and construction. The business growth has enabled him to raise and educate his family, which includes 3 boys and a girl. One son, who played football for the University of Alabama until 2006, has recently finished his Masters degree.

“I love my CRS, wouldn’t go without it,” he insists. “It’s just the best tool in the world. I never just go look at a property. I go to CRS [first] and look at comps. It always gives me an advantage, an edge.” And he still uses the labels function to get his name out there.

Brooks recently upgraded to the Investor PowerTool. “I’m very impressed with it,” he said. His goals for 2007 include growing the business by working smarter instead of harder. “With this tool, it will get me there.”
